Deserving Collection of Worship
By LP Pakon
Wat Tham Pha Den, Sakon Nakhon Province

100% Authentic from Temple

Objective: to earn donations for temple’s affairs

WAT THAM PHA DEN, THE TEMPLE ON MOUNTAIN:

Phu Pha Den is part of Mount Phu Phan in Sakon Nakhon province. Mount Phu Phan is a long-history place in Northeastern Thailand (E-san) where past guru monks used to do meditation such as LP Mun Phurithatto, LP Fun Arjaro, etc. and also a King Rama the Ninth’s resort called Phra Tamnak Phuphan Ratchanivet. There is the temple on Phu Pha Den named “Wat Tham Pha Den” where visitors can see big sculpture of reclining Buddha on the rock and pay respect to holy Buddha’s footprint (Phra Phutthabat), width 1 meter and length almost 2 meters.

About Guru Monk:

Wat Tham Pha Den is taken care by Luangpho Pakon, an abbot. LP Pakon is a well-behaved monk. He ever saw Naga (the great snake of Buddhism) by himself through his meditative absorption. LP Pakon is the first person who found Buddha’s footprint on the rock ground after meditation.

After discovery, that evening, LP Pakon did meditation and felt his meditation better than usual. Many hours passed, LP Pakon saw himself in the nether world assumed land of Naga.

In his meditation, Naga appeared in form of a human. He told LP Pakon to take care of the footprint because it belongs to Buddha. Next day, LP Pakon held the ritual for Naga and then ran construction of the pavilion to cover Buddha’s footprint. That pavilion has Naga at both sides as a guardian of Buddha’s footprint.
