**POWER: A plump Buddha with his hands covering his eyes is a well-known name of Phra Pidta (one of Buddha’s enlightened disciples). Phra Pidta represents plenty and well-being. Thai Buddhists believe worshiping Phra Pidta will bring wealth and charm called Metta Maha Niyom, the charm that makes people show mercy and do favors for you.
ABOUT THE GURU MONK:
LP Prong Chotiko is a good monk you should know. He is well-known in Tha Sae District, Chumphon Province. At present, LP Prong Chotiko stays at Wat Tham Phru TaKian in Chumphon Province.
LP Prong Chotiko was born on the 10th February 2473 BE (1930 CE). He got ordained 2 times first at age 20 and second at age 46. The first year after first ordination, he learnt intensive meditation from LP Lim at Wat Noi, Chonburi Province. LP Lim (already passed away) is a monk whom many people admire and respect
Initially, Wat Tham Phru TaKian is the cave on the hill (cave called Tham Pru TaKian). In 2520 BE (1977 CE), a pilgrimage monk named LP Prong Chotiko came here to do meditation during the Buddhist Lent. When Buddhist Lent was over, LP Prong Chotiko went back to the North. He came here every year. There was a rumor that the cave had a python and was full of dangerous animals. However, LP Prong Chotiko was safe all his stay in the cave. People in that area saw LP Prong Chotiko and were impressed by his admirable behaviors. In 2528 BE (1985 CE), people requested LP Prong Chotiko to stay here and together built the small house for him on the hill. LP Prong decided to stay there.
**There was wonder that in 2532 BE (1989 CE), Typhoon Gay attacked Chumphon Province. The huge storm killed many people and destroyed buildings EXCEPT the small wooden house on the hill where LP Prong lived.
LP Prong Chotiko and people together built the temple. With faith in LP Prong, people were welcome to help him develop the temple. Soon, the temple named Wat Tham Pru TaKian was finished.
