Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

About Phra Buddha Angkiros:
Phra Buddha Angkiros is the principal Buddha image at the Royal Temple of Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Temple. It is enshrined on a base made of soft marble from Italy. The name "Lord Buddha statue" means the radiance emanating from the Lord's body. It was cast during the reign of King Rama IV and completed in the reign of King Rama V. It is made of 180 baht of gold, which was generously donated by King Rama IV. Originally, King Rama IV intended to enshrine it at the Phra Pathom Chedi, but he passed away before that could happen. Therefore, King Rama V graciously granted permission for it to be enshrined as the principal deity at the Royal Temple of Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Temple on September 12, 1873.

About the Temple:

The Temple is located on Fuang nakhon Road near Wat Pho. Built by King Rama V in 1869, it was in keeping with Tradition that each monarch constructed a temple to mark his reign. The temple is a mixture of Local and western styles, showing an awakening interest in new ideas and a desire to experiment with them. The exterior of the Chapel is in the Thai style, but the interior is decorated in the European style.
