Power: The Buddha image covered by the Naga is known as Phra Nak Prok or Pang Nak Prok. This image originated when Buddha was practicing enlightenment. He sat beneath a large Bodhi tree called Srimahapho and engaged in meditation. During this time, it rained continuously for seven days and seven nights. Phaya Mujarin, the king of great snakes, noticed this and became concerned that Buddha would get wet. Thus, he provided shelter by covering Buddha like an umbrella. Interestingly, Phaya Mujarin had faith in Buddha, and after the rain stopped, he transformed into a human and paid his respects.
Phra Nak Prok possesses a strong protective power, warding off harm, dangers, and misfortunes. It brings peace and has the ability to transform negative destinies into positive ones. People born on a Saturday are particularly auspicious to worship Phra Nak Prok in order to improve their lives and increase their luck. However, worshiping Phra Nak Prok is beneficial for individuals on other days as well.
About LP Khip:
Luang Pho Khip Thiraphanya, also known as Khip Champa, was born on August 10, 1915 (Buddhist era 2458) in Tambon Ban Kho, Amphoe Tha Uthen, Nakhon Phanom Province. He was the son of Mr. Kwap Jampa and Mrs. Pum Jampa and had six siblings.
In terms of education, at the age of 10 in 1925, he attended primary school at Wat Witthayathana School. In 1927, he completed 4th grade at Ban Kho School, Tha Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province.
On the path of monasticism, he was ordained as a novice monk at Wat Pho Sum, Ban Kho, Tha Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province in January 1935. He studied Dhamma and resided with a senior monk for a period of time. He later became a monk at Samnaksong Wat Sri Thong, Ban Phon Sawan, Tambon Phon Sawan, Amphoe Tha Uthen, Nakhon Phanom Province. During that time, he studied under the abbot and his teacher, Phra Atikarn. He also studied with Phra Panya, a renowned monk from Wat Tha Dok Kaeo, Tambon Tha Dok Kaeo, Amphoe Tha Uthen, Nakhon Phanom Province. He completed his studies at the age of 19.
He received higher ordination on February 10, 1935, at Wat Pho Sum, Ban Kho, Amphoe Tha Uthen, Nakhon Phanom Province. Luang Pho Khip practiced and studied the Dhamma at various locations, including paying respects to his teachers such as Luang Pho Santi of Wat Tha Dok Kaeo and Luang Pho Kha of Wat Pho Chai. He acquired knowledge in traditional medicine and became skilled in herbal medicine and drug formulations. He got married and had two daughters. He passed away later in life.
He re-entered monastic life in 1977, spending his rains retreat at Wat Chumphon, Ban Phan Phrao, Tambon Phan Phrao, Amphoe Tha Bo, Nong Khai Province. He then went on pilgrimage to various places before residing at Wat Ban Nong Bua, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, in 1981. In 1983, he passed the entrance exam for a Bachelor of Buddhism degree and continued his studies until he attained a Doctorate of Buddhism degree. He then returned to Wat Pho Sum, Ban Kho, Tha Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province, in 1988. He underwent another period of rains retreat before re-entering monastic life in 1997. Currently, he is 104 years old and remains in good health, serving as a practicing and compassionate monk as well as a healer. He does not hold any official monastic positions and avoids worldly affairs.
