Benefit/ Power: Phra Buddha Sihing in Mara-subduing posture, this Buddha image originates from Nakhon Si Thammarat and has a long history. Southern residents, particularly Nakhon Si Thammarat natives, say wrongdoers will never dare swearing their innocence before Phra Buddha Sihing. Ever since this Buddha image was moved to the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Hall, the number of court cases has dropped significantly because the name of the sacred statue is often mentioned in sworn court statements. People usually pray before Phra Buddha Sihing to boost their chance in winning court battles or removing work-related obstacles. To worship Phra Phuttha Si Hing will bring auspiciousness and prosperity to life of the worshiper. The merit of Phra Phuttha Si Hing will fulfill the wishes of the wisher.
The legend of Phra Phuttha Sihing or Sihingkhanithan – the legend of the Sihing Buddha image- describes the history of the Sihing Buddha image, how it was built and its relocation since it is an important Buddha image in Thailand. The Venerable Phra Pho-thi Rangsi of Chiang Mai recorded the history of this Buddha image in Pali language during 1417 AD. He described the history of the Buddha image up to 1411 AD. HRH Prince Damrong Rajanubhab added the later history to the record.The legend was later edited for an abridged version by Luang Boribanburi-phan, with additional archeological commentary.
The legend says that the Sihing Buddha image was created in Sri Lanka around 157 AD and was brought to Siam in 1307 AD to Sukhothai. Later it was relocated to Phitsanulok, Ayutthaya, Kamphaeng Phet and Chiang Rai, before it was brought back to Ayutthaya again and then to Chiang Mai. Presently it is in Bangkok. Thai people believe that wherever the Sihing Buddha image resides, Buddhism will prosper. Presently, there are three images of the Sihing Buddha that share the same title, one in the Phutthai Sawan Royal Throne Hall, National Museum, Bangkok; one in the Phra Sihing Hall in Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province; and the other one at Wat Phra Sing in Chiang Mai Province.
About the Master:
Khao Or is the first oldest magic shool in Southern Thailand (today becomes a temple). This place magnetizes people who love magic and supernatural arts to come to learn. Until now, Khao Or has built a lot of skilled guru monks and masters who are propagating magic of Khao Or in many areas in Thailand.
Ajarn Plian (Mr. Plian Hatthayanon), a layman who is proficient at magic and mantras from Phattalung Province, Southern Thailand. He is so attached to Wat Khao Or , formerly known as the magic school of the South because he ever studied there. Today, AJ Plian Hattayanon helps Wat Khao Or hold ritual ceremonies keeping magical knowledge what he loves.
About Wat Khao Or :
Wat Khao Or aged more than 120 is a famous temple for magic and mantras. In fact, Wat Khao Or is the oldest spiritual and magical academy in Thailand. In the past, people who were very interested in magic and mantra went to Wat Khao Or or Samnak Khao Or at that time. People studying here must not use magical knowledge to kill people or commit a sin. A Learner of Samnak Khao Or must be a good man and grateful to parents and a teacher. Samnak Khao Or has produced many important guru monks and masters such as LP Kron, LP Nam, LP Kloy, Khunphantharakratchadet, AJ Plian Hattayanon, etc. These people have magical competence. In fact, Wat Khao Or is also a good place for studying herbal medicine.
Wat Khao Or is located in Kuan Kanoon district, Phatthalung Province. This temple has the cave which is on the mountain named Tham Chatthanbanpot where is used to hang rites and ceremonies. The legend says that Wat Khao Or in the past was the place where hermits drilled. Later, it became the center of magic gurus. Those gurus wanted to hand down their knowledge, so they taught magic to people who were interested. Year after year, magic, mantra and herbal medicine spread to people generation by generation. It is believed that if we participate in these ceremonies, we will be indestructible to dangers.
