Power: According to Thai belief, Phra Kring is Buddha amulet of well-being especially carrying off illness and bad luck. Not only that, this Buddha amulet is also believed to bring wealth and fulfillment.
History of Phra Kring:
In the reign of King Rama III, there was the spreading of cholera that killed many Thai people. Somdej Phrawannarat (LP Daeng) abbot of Wat Suthat, Bangkok blessed Phra Kring amulet in the water and gave out water to people. People who drank that water (including LP Daeng) could get over cholera.
About Temple:
Wat Yan Nawa is an ancient temple located in Yan Nawa District, Bangkok. Wat Yan Nawa was built in Ayutthaya Era. This temple has the very big junk boat architecture which is its uniqueness. Wat Yan Nawa has a former name “Wat Khork Khwai”. This temple was renamed by King Rama the Third. In the chapel, there are Buddha relics for people to pay respect to.
