LP Han “The Angel of Elephants”:
Luang Por Han or Phra Kru Samuhan is an abbot of Wat Pa Ar-Jiang and the founder of the elephant learning center in Surin Province. LP Han is a good monk. He is very familiar with elephants. There is a beautiful picture of LP Han with an elephant bowing down towards him respectfully.
Elephant is an important animal in Thailand with long history as a vehicle of Kings in the wars and being used by humans in daily life. The area of Wat Pa Ar-Jiang used to be the burial place for dead people and elephants. In the past, this place was feared by people because of its creeps and mysteries about spirits. In 1992, LP Han first came here with newly ordained monks and developed this place as the temple in 2005.
Today, Wat Pa Ar-Jiang is not only a temple, but also the outdoor museum about elephants and the place to conserve species of Thai elephants, supported by Surin Provincial Office.
