HIN PHRA THAT (holy stone in Thailand)
Kao Sam Roi Yod is name of the mountain where is national park in Prachuabkirikhan Province, Thailand. There is a holy quiet place surrounded by nature. There are many caves in it. Thai people believe that many hundreds of years ago, many Buddha disciples came to Kao Sam Roi Yod to do meditation. They stayed in the caves and did meditation until their minds were perfectly still and enlightened. These Buddha disciples left their bodies there when they died. Year after year, their bodies decayed and turned to part of rock in the caves. This rock is relic. The longer year goes by, the more precious these relics are. After that, people found the relics and assumed they were relics of Buddha’s disciples. They named these relics “Hin Phra That” and people began to worship.
PEOPLE BELIEVE Hin Phra That is very holy by itself because it comes from hundreds of years and absorbs natural powers. Hin Phra That stones have different shapes and colors. Different colors of stones have different powers.

LP Mun Phurithatto, a Timeless Meditation Monk:
Luang Pu Mun Phurithatto (1870–1949 CE) was a famous meditation monk of Thailand, regarded very holy with his concentration power from meditation rather than any magic. LP Mun led meditation path (well-known as Vipassana Kammathan) in Thailand and today his teachings are propagated throughout Thailand and several countries. Moreover, he is the inspiration for monks and Buddhists to practice meditation, the important way in Buddhism.
LP Mun was born in Baan Kham Bong, a farming village in Ubon Ratchathani Province.
Ordained as a monk in 1893, he spent the remainder of his life wandering through Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, dwelling for the most part in the forest, engaged in the practice of meditation.
Practice of LP Mun was solitary and strict. He followed the vinaya (monastic discipline) faithfully, and also observed many of what are known as the 13 classic dhutanga (ascetic) practices, such as living off alms food, wearing robes made of cast-off rags, dwelling in the forest and eating only one meal a day.
Searching out secluded places in the wilds of Thailand and Laos, he avoided the responsibilities of settled monastic life and spent long hours of the day and night in meditation. In spite of his reclusive nature, he attracted a large following of students willing to put up with the hardships of forest life in order to study with him.
LP Mun passed away at Wat Pa Sutthawad, Sakon Nakhon Province in 1949 at age 79 and 56th year of monkhood.
LP CHAOWARAT, A MONK WHO DEVOTES TO SOCIAL WORK & RELIGION
This is Luang Por Chaowarat, an abbot of Wat Tha Wang Hin, Sakon Nakhon Province (Northern Thailand). LP Chaowarat is much respected by people in Phanatnikom district, Sakon Nakhon because he is kind to everyone and works for society and Buddhism.
LP Chaowarat was born on 15 November 1954 in Sakon Nakhon. Got ordained at age 16. LP Chaowarat is a disciple of Luang Pu Sim (abbot of Wat Thamphaplong, Chiangmai Province). LP Sim is praised to have pure precepts and dharma, and in fact was a disciple of LP Mun Phurithatto, a famous deep-meditative monk of Thailand.
Year 1-5 after ordination, LP Chaowarat helped LP Sim build the chapel at Wat Santisangkaram in Sakon Nakhon. Later, villagers invited LP Sim to be the president of the project of building the check dam in order to save water for consuming and agriculture. That project, LP Chaowarat also worked with villagers. Soon, the check dam was finished and nowadays people in the village are happy because they have enough water to use.
