The original name of this temple is “Wat Tha Kwien” because in the past this temple was the place that merchandise used to rest. Next time, this temple was changed the name from “Wat Tha Kwien” to be “Wat Ton Takhian” because this temple had a lot of “Takhina” trees. In king Rama IV was to develop and restore this temple. King Rama IV changed name of temple from “Wat Takhian” to be “Wat Maha Pruettharam”.
