Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

"KASEM SUK KOON LARP" means "the state of being happy and full of fortunes".

From: LP Kasem, Samnak Susan Trailak, Lampang Province

Ceremony: This set was cast by LP Kasem at Samnak Susan Trailak on 10 Feb. 1994 and exclusively blessed by LP Koon at Wat Ban Rai. Again, blessed by LP Kasem on Sao Ha Day, 30 April 1994.

Power: Phra Kring and Phra Chaiwat, iconic Buddha amulets in Thailand, are revered for their incredible powers and significance. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these amulets share a strikingly similar appearance, although Phra Chaiwat is slightly smaller in size.

Phra Kring, known for its ability to fulfill fervent prayers, bestows wealth, prosperity, progress, safety, and tranquility upon its devotees. Moreover, it possesses the extraordinary power to produce holy water, renowned for its miraculous healing properties and the ability to expel negative energies.

The name "Phra Kring" derives from the inclusion of a metal bead within the amulet, which produces a melodious ringing sound that is believed to attract immense fortune and blessings. It is deeply ingrained in the Thai culture, with a remarkable narrative tied to its existence.

During the reign of King Rama III, a devastating cholera outbreak ravaged the nation, claiming countless lives. Somdej Phrawannarat (LP Daeng), the revered abbot of Wat Suthat in Bangkok, blessed the Phra Kring amulets in water and distributed it among the afflicted. Astonishingly, those who consumed this sacred water, including LP Daeng himself, were miraculously cured of cholera, defying all odds.

On the other hand, Phra Chaiwat holds a prestigious position, as it is exclusively associated with the Kings of Thailand. Every monarch possesses their own revered Phra Chaiwat amulet. The name itself translates to "always conquer/win/succeed," symbolizing the auspicious beginnings that this amulet heralds.

Worshiping Phra Chaiwat is believed to attract bountiful fortune, abundant luck, financial prosperity, security, and triumph in all endeavors. Legends abound about its ability to ward off illness, rendering it highly sought after by believers seeking physical and metaphysical healing.

In summary, Phra Kring and Phra Chaiwat, revered amulets in Thailand, possess immense sacred power and embody the hopes, dreams, and spiritual aspirations of those who seek their blessings. Their remarkable histories and extraordinary abilities continue to captivate the imagination of both locals and visitors alike.

The Biography of LP Kasem:

LP Kasem Kamago was born on 28 November 1912. LP Kasem was the descendant of Lampang's King from the Lanna Period. In 1923, LP Kasem was ordained as a monk (Buat Nah Fai) for a short period, as a way of merit making for the dead his uncle, the abbot of Wat BunYeun. In 1925, LP Kasem was novice at the age of 15 at Wat Bun Yeun for studying Dharma until the age of 21 when he was finally ordained as a monk. LP studied Pali language at Wat SeTuWan, Wat Seelom and Wat Bunyawaht. He passed his Pali examination with good results. After he entered monkhood, Luang Por Kasem went to Chiangrai temple, Lampang Province to further his Pali studies. He met Krapah Gaen, a very famous monk in North Thailand who was a Tudong monk (forest monk), very good in Sammahdti. LP Kasem became a disciple of Krapah Gaen and went Tudong with his teacher in forests and cementries. When the abbot of Wat Bunyeun passed away, Pra Dtomkum became the new abbot. After some time, Pra Dtomkum left the temple and the post of abbot at Wat Bunyeun because of boredom.
The villagers invited LP Kasem to be the new abbot of Wat Bunyeun. LP Kasem continues his learning in Dhamma and Sammahdti practice even when he was the abbot. The more he trained, the more realized that life is uncertain. His duties as the abbot, kept him rather busy and finally in 1949, he left Wat Bunyeun, and went to stay at Sasahn Sahlahwangthan (a cemetery at another place in Lampang).
LP Kasem was determined to practice the highest Sammahdti at the cemetery. He would sit in front of the burial place and watch the burning of corpse. Whether in hot sun or raining, LP would just sit quietly and watched the corpse being burned to spiritual powder. LP ever sat in Sammahdti for as long as 3 months, without shelter under hot sun or heavy rain. Even his robes were wet by the rain or during cold season, when the cold wind blows, LP would just sit quietly and not complain and asked for anything. LP had let go of everything and steadfast in his practice of Dhamma and Sammahdti. LP was known to go without food for 49 days. Since 1971, LP Kasem only bathed once a year, but there is no stench or foul Odour from his body, even his sweat was pouring under the hot sun. More surprisingly, without pillow and mosquito net, LP never suffered a bite from mosquito at the cemetery. LP Kasem carried nothing with him. His only possession was an alms bowl, his robe, which he was wearing, and a piece of human bone for him to practice Sammahdti.
LP Kasem passed away on 15 January BE2539 (CE1996) at the hospital in Lampang Province at the age of 85 years.
