This Phra Kring Suan Tao is the second batch of Wat Sam Ngam. The first Phra Kring Suan Tao was made by LP Te in BE2500 (CE1957). Later, LP Yaem made Phra Kring Suan Tao in BE2527 (CE1984) by mixing old metal of LP Te in his Phra Kring to add more power.
The History of Phra Kring Suan Tao:
The name of this Buddha means "Buddha of Turtle Garden" because this amulet was cast beside the turtle garden.
Phra Kring Suan Tao is a 100-year-old amulet because it was built in the reign of King Rama V by pouring cast beside the turtle garden in the Grand Palace area. The design, pouring, casting and decorating the Buddha image is beautiful, delicate, full of high-class craftsmanship, which is the work of the royal artisans in the palace.
The characteristics of Phra Kring Suan Tao look like the Buddha statue, especially the face with beautiful and clear details. His eyes look low, his hands are holding different things; for instance, some hold an alms bowl, some hold a conch shell, some hold a lotus flower or some don't hold anything at all. Some of Phra Kring Suan Tao wear beads.
The present era, some took the model of Phra Kring Suan Tao to modify and create a new one such as Phra Kring Suan Tao by Luang Pho Te, Wat Sam Ngam.
About LP Te
LP Te (CE 1891 - passed away CE 1981) was a former abbot of Wat Sam Ngam, Nakhon Pathom Province. He was a superb past guru monk. He was the first person who created powerful Guman Thong signature of Wat Sam Ngam. LP Te handed superb science of Guman Thong down to LP Yam, his disciple.
About LP Yaem
LP Yaem of Wat SamNagm, Nakhon Pathom Province (CE1915 - passed away 27 August CE2017, total age 102) was a famous venerated guru monk in especially for powerful Guman Thong. He studied science of making Guman Thong with Luang Pu Tae, a former abbot. As a young monk, LP Yaem went on a monk journey in many places for dharma and meditation. Guman Thong from LP Yaem is very popular in Thailand.
