Feature: Bottom has a monogram of Somdet Phra Yannasangwon the supreme patriarch.

Ceremony: holy ceremony at Bowon, Bangkok on 10 March 2013 that Somdej Phra Yannasangwon was the president of the ceremony.

Power: People believe Phra Kring can cure illness. In the reign of King Rama III, there was the spreading of cholera that killed many Thai people. Somdej Phrawannarat (LP Daeng) abbot of Wat Suthat, Bangkok blessed Phra Kring amulet in the water and gave out water to people. People who drank that water (including LP Daeng) could get over cholera.

Phra Kring is a famous Buddha amulet in Thailand. Believed to fulfill wishes of prayer, bring wealth, prosperity, progression, safety and peacefulness as well as used to make holy water to cure illness and drive out the inauspicious.

The name “Phra Kring” (Phra = Buddha, Kring = inside metal bead) comes from a metal bead in amulet. The ringing sound is believed to bring good luck.

About Somdet Phra Yannasangwon:

Somdet Phra Yannasangwon (birth 3 October 1913 – passed away 24 October 2013, age 100) was the 19th Supreme Buddhist Patriarch of Thailand, appointed to the position in 1989 by King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Somdet Phra Yannasangwon did great work for Buddhism for example propagating dharma of Buddha in many countries, writing good dharma books for Buddhists to read in Thai and foreign languages and building temples and monk schools. Thai people love and respect him wholeheartedly.

About Temple:
Wat Bowon or full name “Wat Bowonniwet Rajaworavihan” is a major temple in Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is a center of the Thammayut Nikaya school of Thai Theravada Buddhism and has been a major temple of patronage of Chakri dynasty.
Wat Bowon is located near the Wan Chart Bridge and Banglamphoo Market. Prince Mahasakdipolsep, vice-king of the Third Reign, ordered the construction of this temple along with Wat Rangsisuthawas and it was built between CE 1824 to1832.
Wat Bowon is the residence of members of the royal family who enter the monkhood. It has been the residence of many the supreme patriarchs of the Buddhist Church in Thailand, and it is the site of Mahamakut Rajavittayalai, Thailand's first Buddhist institution of the high education.
