One day, it rained 7 days and 7 nights and Phaya Mujarin (king of great snakes) saw and was afraid that Buddha would get wet, so he covered Buddha with himself like an umbrella. In fact, Phaya Mujarin had faith in Buddha. When it stopped raining, Phaya Mujarin transformed himself into a human and paid respect to Buddha.

Phra Nak Prok has powerful power in protection against harm, dangers and bad things, bringing peacefulness and turning bad destiny to good. In fact, Phra Nak Prok is a Buddha image of people born on Saturday. It is propitious for people on this day to worship Phra Nak Prok in order to enhance their life and fortune. However, worshiping Phra Nak Prok is also good for people in other days.

About Wat Nak Prok:

Wat Nak Prok, is located in Khwaeng Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen, Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok. The temple was presumably built in 1748 (BE 2291) in the Ayutthaya period. It is said that a Chinese merchant called Phuk was the contributor of the temple buildings. The Phra Wihan (Sermon Hall) was dedicated to his Thai wife and the Phra Ubosot (Ordination Hall) was dedicated to himself. Buddha images were later enshrined in the Phra Wihan and Phra Ubosot. The temple is named Wat Nak Prok (or Wat Nakprok) after the most sacred Buddha image made of bronze in the posture of Meditation under the shelter of a seven-headed serpent (Nakprok) made of mortar and enshrined inside Phra Wihan. The Phra Ubosot, originally built in Ayutthaya style is now being modified in accordance with a later restoration that occurred during the reign of King Rama 3 or King Rama 4.
