Name: Holy Water Bowl (Bat Nammon)

From: LP Ruay, Wat Tako, Ayutthaya Province

Origin: Thailand

Year: before LP passed away.

Material:brass with enamel colors.

Feature: Top of the bowl has a Buddha image. There is lotus-petal design on the cover and the base of the bowl. Buddha is highly esteemed and lotus is a symbol of goodness.

Purpose: to earn donations for supporting Wat Tako.

Ceremony: LP Ruay Wat Tako properly blessed this holy water bowl on the auspicious day.

Power: In Buddhism, there is a sacred bowl which contains holy water like we see a monk sprinkle holy water on people for auspiciousness with a cluster of palm leaf stalks. For worship, you pour clean water into this sacred bowl and then place it on the shelf of Buddha statues or amulets. When you chant at the shelf of Buddha, the auspiciousness will come to the bowl and make the water holy. After that, you use this holy water to drink or wash your face or your head. Buddhists believe to do that will bring them auspiciousness and good health or make them recover from illness.

About Guru Monk:
LP Ruay is an abbot of Wat Tako, Ayutthaya Province. He is one of famous guru monks of Thailand. He is famous for his holy amulets of good luck, protection and charm. He lives simply and behaves well. Thus, many people have faith in LP Ruay very much.
LP Ruay was born in December 1921 in Phachee District, Ayutthaya Province. At the age of 12, he studied with a monk at Tako School until his grade was equal to primary 4. When he was 16, he got ordained as a novice at Wat Tako until he was 20. At the age of 20, in 1941 he got ordained as a monk at the same temple.

**LP Ruay calmly passed away on 19 July 2017 at the age of 95 and 76 years in monkhood.
