Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Hin Phra That (holy relic stone):

Kao Sam Roi Yod is name of the mountain where is national park in Prachuabkirikhan Province, Thailand. There is a holy quiet place surrounded by nature. There are many caves in it such as Khao Phra (monk’s mountain) Cave, Mangkorn (dragon) Cave, Khow (white) Cave, Manow (lime) Cave, Khumsarp (treasure trove) Cave, Sam See (3 colors) Cave, Mae Ya (grandma) Cave and Ruesi(hermit) Cave.

Thai people believe that many hundreds of years ago, many Buddha disciples came to Kao Sam Roi Yod to do meditation. They stayed in the caves and did meditation until their minds were perfectly still and enlightened. These Buddha disciples left their bodies there when they died.

Year after year, their bodies decayed and turned to part of rock in the caves. This rock is relic. The longer year goes by, the more precious these relics are. After that, people found the relics and assumed they were relics of Buddha’s disciples. They named these relics “Hin Phra That” and people began to worship.

People believe Hin Phra That is very holy by itself because it comes from hundreds of years and absorbs natural powers. Some worshipers found relics grew bigger by themselves.

Hin Phra That have different shapes and colors. Different colors of relics have different powers.

2. Honey color: build up person’s charm and bring mercy

History of Wat Avutvikasitaram:
Wat Avutvikasitaram is an old temple built more over 200 years ago. King Rama V changed the name of this temple to “Wat Avutvikasitaram” in 2411 BE (1868 CE).

Nun Boonruen, the Most Holy Nun Ever in Thailand:

Maechee [Maechee= “nun”] Boonruen Tongboonterm (Nun Boonruen Tongboonterm), a famous nun of Thailand was born on Sunday the 4th March 1894 in Ayutthaya Province. Her former name is Mrs. Boonruen Klinphaka. She lived in a poor family. She studied reading and writing Thai and doing the housework from her parents until she could do those well. When she was young, she met LP Phring, an abbot of Wat Bangpakok at that time who inspired her to learn dharma of Buddha, make merit and do meditation. Then she got married to a policeman Mr. Joi Tongboonterm who worked at Samphanthawong District Police Station, but she didn’t have a child. She and her husband loved making merit and dharma. They often went to the temple. Her husband got ordained as a monk for one year. After her husband resigned, she got ordained as a nun at Wat Samphanthawong until she became an expert in intensive meditation. In 1936, her husband died by the accident that she was 42 at that time. Nun Boonruen has a lot of supernatural power and used it to help people. She passed away on the 7th September 1964. Although she has gone, people always remember her because she did a lot of good things and gave people a favor. Nowadays, there is Nun Boonruen Statue located at Wat Awutwikasitaram or also called Wat Bangphladnork, Bangkok.

The supernatural of Nun Boonruen:

At night in June 1927, Nun Boonruen felt annoyed her husband because he kept gnashing. So, she made a wish that she got in the pavilion located at the police station where her husband worked. Suddenly, she appeared in the pavilion. She told her friends but they didn’t believe her. Her friends wanted to prove the truth of that. They asked Nun Boonruen to disappear to the pavilion again, but they locked windows and a door of the pavilion. Unbelievably, Nun Boonruen could get in there for a second time!
She disappeared to the heaven and brought the deity’s relic for people to worship.
She could cure the sick people and made them absolutely recover from their illness such as the first case, the handicapped old man who had a bent back and weak legs. Nun Boonruen only said to the old man “Put down the walking stick and walk strongly”, suddenly the old man’s back was gradually straight and he could walk like normal people. The second case, the man who had such a serious stomach ache at night that he couldn’t sleep at all. Nun Boonruen said to the man “You will have no pain tonight”. Incredibly, that night the man had no pain at all and after that he recovered from his serious stomach ache.
Nun Boonruen had special ears. She could hear everything. One day, she went to cure the madam who had painful legs at her house. When Nun Boonruen finished curing, madam gave her money for going home. When Nun Boonruen had gone, madam told her husband what Nun Boonruen treated her and the money she gave Nun Boonruen. Her husband got upset and blamed Nun Boonruen. Following morning, Nun Boonruen came to madam’s house and gave money back to madam. That shows Nun Boonruen heard what madam’s husband said.
