Description: This fine medal with imprint of King Bhumibol (Rama the Ninth) of Thailand with the longest reign ever in Chakri Dynasty. The back imprinted weapons of Lord Indra: a rowel and a trident. This medal was built by Ministry of Defence, Thailand in 1996 to celebrate King Bhumibol’s the 50th anniversary of accession to the throne on June the 9th, 1996 – a good medal for collectors with experience in protecting Thai soldiers and police from dangers.
Building the 50th reign anniversary medal, the committee collected metal material from many ritual ceremonies such as Chanuan Phra Kring 100th year of Ministry of Defence 2533 B.E (1990 CE), Chanuan Phra Nirokantarai by Ministry of Defence 2538 BE (1995 CE) and metal sheets inscribed by guru monks around Thailand and Somdet Phra Yannasangwon (the 19th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand) performed blessing by himself at Wat Bowon, Bangkok.

About King Bhumibol:
Bhumibol Adulyadej (5 December 1927 – 13 October 2016), conferred with the title King Bhumibol the Great in 1987, was the ninth monarch of Thailand from the Chakri Dynasty as Rama IX. Having reigned since 9 June 1946, he was, at the time of his death, the world's longest-serving head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history, serving for 70 years, 126 days.
King Bhumibol was the most hard-working king ever in the world. He worked every day all his reign shown by his more than 4,000 projects for better life of Thai people in many aspects such as farming, water, soil, forests, cattle, education, science and technology, etc. , and also led “Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy”.
The king was more than the king. No any words can describe his virtues. We all Thai can repose our faith to the king wholeheartedly and altogether praise him “King of King Forever”.
