**Power: King Taksin is the great king in Thai history because he freed Thailand from Burma’s control, the great final war before Thonburi era. There is King Taksin monument at Wong Wian Yai (traffic circle), Thonburi district, Bangkok. Every day, people come to worship and pay respect to King Taksin monument. Thai people believe King Tasin spirit always helps and protects his people.

Guru Monk Introduction:
When saying about Suphanburi Province, we think of many famous guru monks for example LP Sodh (passed away), LP Nuam (alive), LP Nim (alive) and others. And one of them is LP Somboon Piyathammo.
LP Somboon Piyathammo is now 92 years old. He is a sacred revered guru monk in Suphanburi. He was born on 3 May 2465 BE (1922 CE) in Suphanburi. At age 20, he got ordained as a Buddhist monk. 14 years after ordination in 1956 CE, he resigned from monkhood to look after his father who was very old. Then he got married and his married life was not happy. His wife died 6 months after giving birth to a baby. Then LP Somboon gave his little child to his closest relative and he came back to monkhood. Early 1958 CE, LP Somboon got ordained as a monk again. After that, he became an abbot of Wat Lam Phan Bong in Suphanburi.
LP Somboon Piyathammo is a good monk who people trust and respect. Picture of him that people quickly think of is a senior monk sweeping the temple court. Although he gets older, he is active to work. LP Somboon also has mercy on everyone.

1. He once gave amulet to a man who became a criminal. His amulet could save a man’s life. People asked LP Somboon why he helped a criminal. LP Somboon said a man’s face did not have a word bad or good. In fact, it is hard to say this person is good or not. LP Somboon said he helped anyone coming for help. That man was safe because he had done good karma before. In fact, when we do good every day, we are collecting merit (Thai: Boon). If we stop doing good, our merit will decrease. And when merit goes down, our life will have problems. LP Somboon always emphasizes this to people.
2. A villager wearing a ring from LP Somboon was bitten by a wild pig, but he was not injured.
3. A man wearing a ring from LP Somboon was bitten by a king cobra, but the snake fang did not get into skin.
