Amulets for Superpower, Ascendancy, and Influence
In Thai culture, amulets have been a significant part of daily life for centuries. Despite the rapid changes and advancements in society, the belief in amulets has endured, evolving and adapting to modern times. The notion of amulets is deeply rooted in Thai people's spiritual beliefs, and their significance is not limited to mere superstition. In fact, many Thais believe that these talismans possess superpower-like abilities that can bring them protection, good fortune, and even invincibility.

The history of Wat Klang Klong Takhian:

Watklang Klong Takhian, the over-five-hundred-year-old monastery of Thailand, is commonly known as Watklang Pak Kran by the local Thai people. It was built in the early Ayutthaya period together with its twins, Wat Nak (presently was deserted). Both temples were in its full glory for more than four centuries. The general public often notified them as Wat Nak & Wat Klang temples.
In the 17th century when Ayutthaya was sacked, many temples were deserted and largely forgotten. Watklang Klong Takhian's days of glory were over. In the aftermath of war, Watklang Klong Takhian laid in ruin eventually.
Wat klang Klong Takhian was in need of serious renovation. By the end of the eighteen-century (1887), the temple had then been restored to, more or less, its orignal glory under the leadership of Luangpoo Maen who was, at that time, the abbot of Watklang Klong Takhian. As a result of these serious efforts, the sacred buildings including the Preaching Hall and the Uposatha Hall - the mysterious beauty of ancient Thai architecture, were relocated from the west to the east to stand majestically on the bank of Klong Takhian canal. The landscape architecture and the environment were greatly improved.

In 2008, Watklang Klong Takhian became the tourist spot of Ayutthaya. The radiance of the surviving ancient and revered Buddha images of Watklang Klong Takhian attracts numerous visitors, especially from Bangkok. Phra Buddha Maha Mingmongkol, Phra Somdej Kring Klong Takhian, and Phra Pang Sibchart, to name a few, display the rich Ayutthaya culture and traditions.
Over five centuries (546 years of age), that Phra Buddha Maha Mingmongkol, the most sacred Buddha image, has been worshipped for the sake of protection, especially by those living near the temple and Thai people.
Watklang Klong Takhian is now a functioning religious centre of Klong Takhian.

The temple is also famous for its Wai Kru Ceremony, the annual Rite of Homage for teachers of the arts, classical drama and music for the sake of spiritual empowerment. Wai Kru Ceremony is the culture left over from our glory days. Thai arts and craftsmanship have a long and traditional history and teachers of the arts are highly respected presons. The ceremony includes a religious ceremony and the invocation inviting the divinities. With the support of the prevailing culture, it was easy to maintain the spiritual practice. Wai Kru Ceremony is a sacred occasion one must visit.

As the acient capital city of Thailand, Ayutthaya has been a land of many minorities. Watklang Klong Takhian a holds an impressive of being a hot spot of cultural diversity for it is situated in the middle of the Buddhist community, the Christian Community and the Islamic community. They all live in harmony. The development of Watklang Klong Takhian contributes to the growth of nearby communities.
