Mae Nark (well-known as Mae Nark Phra Khanong) is a famous lady spirit in Thailand. In the past, in Phra Khanong district, Bangkok, Mae Nark died while she was giving birth to her baby. After she died, her spirit was not gone because she looked forward to seeing her husband that left her to be a soldier in the city. Every night, people saw her at the pier in front of her house that was very scary. This is a legend of Mae Nark Phra Khanong.
Nowadays, belief in Mae Nark still exists. *Famous Mae Nark Shrine is located at Wat Mahabut, Phra Khanong district, Bangkok.
People popularly come to pray to Mae Nark statue for help. Top three things that people frequently ask for are love, business and not to be a soldier (especially some men who are not ready for being soldier). Many people are successful in what they pray to Mae Nark and this makes Mae Nark very famous among Thai believers.
