Phra That Cho Hae, the Chedi containing the Lord Buddha’s relics (hair and elbow’s bone), has long been Phrae’s sacred shine. Khun Lua Ai Kom was said to be its founder and Pra Maha Thammaracha (Li Thai), when he was the crown prince, ordered the construction between 1879-1881.
The octagon shaped Chedi, built in Chiang Sean style, with a complicated system of folded angles, is 33 meters high. It was made of cement covered bricks, covered with bronze plates and gold leaves. The Chedi is standing on the 11 meters square base. Also the picture of the Chedi on horseback is designed as the symbol of Phrae Province
