"Kru Kai Kaew" or known by many people "Pho Yai, the Powerful Occult Spirit", according to evidence is a statuette belonging to a pilgrim monk in Lampang Province, the North of Thailand. That pilgrim monk went to do meditation at Ankor Wat and Ankor Thom in Cambodia and then gave the statuette to a disciple named Arjarn Thawin Milinthajinda, a classical Thai singer of military band who is an instructor of Arjarn Suchat Rattanasuk who built the first Kru Kai Kaew statue in Thailand.
Later, Arjarn Suchat received the statuette from his master. One day, spirit of Kru Kai Kaew appeared towards eyes of Arjarn Suchat. So Arjarn Suchat drew a picture of Kru Kai Kaew he saw and cast into the statue, depicted an old man standing with fangs in a half human-half bird body like the image of the musical avian angel named "Garawek" seen on the walls of Bayon temples, said as "Teacher of All Arts" in the reign of King Jayavarman VII of Cambodia.
Kru Kai Kaew has manifested maricles to the people who make a wish to his image. Not only in Thailand, but many people in Hong Kong also have faith in Kru Kai Kaew,widely sharing the miracle on fulfilling the wishes of prayers especially for success in business that Kru Kai Kaew is praised as "the god of wealth".
