Brahmanism or Hinduism is a religion which has the origin in South Asia. People who respect in Hinduism are about 475 million people around the world. Hinduism is mixed with Thai Buddhism to be part of Thai culture.
There are many famous god and goodness who are respected by Thais. As a result, there are many well-known holy places or sanctuary in Thailand which concern to Hinduism.
1. Sao Ching Cha
Sao Ching Cha is the imposing red swing in front of Wat Suthat, commissioned in 1784 by King Rama I. It is a symbol of the God Shiva. The Giant Swing has not actually been used since the beginning of the 20th century.
Sao Ching Cha represents the movement of the God Shiva. Sao Ching Cha�s usage was reserved purely for a spectacular game performed at grand ceremonies. Nowadays the red wooden frame is left of this ceremonial apparatus along with the memories and stories of the deadly game.
2. Erawan Shrine (PhraPhrom, Erawan Hotel)
San Phra Phrom or Erawan Shrine was created as a spirit house connected to the Erawan Hotel, which has now made way for the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. Acorrding to history of building, the forces of the typical Thai spirit house didn't seem effective enough during the building of the hotel so spiritual persons advised that it should be replaced with the four-headed image of Brahma or Phra Phrom in Thai. There have been no further hitches since then, and the shrine has become famous for bringing good fortune. The name Erawan comes from Brahma's thirty-three headed elephant. Thai people believe that Brahma is god who monitors the course of life, nature and events, can provide a new path.
3. Sri Mahamariamman Temple (Wat Kak Silom)
It is also called Wat Phra Sri Maha Umathewi. It is Hindu temple of Goddess Uma, consort of Shiva. It was built around 1879 by a group of Indians who lived in Bangkok on Silom Road.
This temple was decorated with principal image Sri Mahamariamman (Uma Devi), surrounded by god and goodness namely Ganesha, Khandakumara, Krisna, Vishnu, Rasmi and Kali.
There is a ceremony namely Nawa Ratri or Dussehra is held by the temple during the first to the ninth day of the 11th lunar month (around October) when the temple statues were carried by the hindu community along Si Lom Road.
In addition to Hinduism holy places, god and goddess of Hinduism are very respect for Thais. Many people believe and faith in the power of them. There are many god and goddess of Hinduism as to introduce follows:
1. Lord Brahma or Phra Phrom
Lord Brahma or Phra Phrom, an important god in both Buddhism and Brahmanism, is considered the God of creation of the Universe. Brahma is one of the three Great Gods.
1. Brahma : God of Creation. 2. Shiva : God of Destruction. 3. Vishnu : God of Protection.
The origins of the birth of Brahma are various, depending on the different beliefs. For example, Varahapurana says that Brahma was born in a lotus, emerging from the navel of God Vishnu. In another scripture, it is said that Phra Artumaphu wished to create whole things in universe. He sowed plant seeds into water and it became a golden egg. The golden egg then was broker in two; one was becoming the sky and another one the land and along together Brahma. Brahma afterward created whole things.
When there was calamity, Vishnu protected the Universe. When the Universe going to be finished, Shiva destroyed it with the great fire. According to the scripture, when the fire from Shiva destroyed the Universe, the Vedas of Hindu and Dharma met. And they became Brahma, who created the new Universe. Moreover, this caused caste' in Brahmanism.
Four Basic Varnas (caste) are :
1. Brahmins Priests: Believed to come from Brahma's head. 2. Kshatryas Warriors: Believed to come from Brahma's chest. 3. Vaishyas Traders: Believed to come from Brahma's stomach. 4. Shudras Laborers: Believed to come from Brahma's feet.
The priests then are considered the highest class in society.
Brahma's Characteristics According to ancient scripture, Brahma's body is red with four heads to be able to look in every direction. He has four arms, (and some say he has 8 arms). These are as follows:
* His first arm holds a mala. * His second arm holds a sacrificial spoon. * His third arm holds a water pot. * His fourth arm holds a vedas.
Another scripture says that he has eight arms, described as follows:
* His first arm holds a trident. * His second arm holds a baton. * His third arm holds a wheel. * His fourth arm holds a conch. * His fifth arm holds a water pot. * His sixth arm holds a rosary. * His seventh arm holds a vedas. * His eighth arm placed his hand on the breast chain.

Brahma rides a golden swan and it is said that his swam is absolutely gorgeous. Brahma also owns the arrow named "Paravita", which is believed to be absolutely sufficient. He has a serene soul and is regarded as the God of wisdom, and the God of mercy, who blesses all.
Brahma's Consort
According to Ramayana, Brahma's consorts are Saraswathi, Savitri, Sonthaya and Sattrupa.
1. Saraswathi was once the consort of Vishnu. She is the Goddess of wisdom and learning. She is praised as very beautiful and elegant. She is seated on a white lotus, representing purity and brilliance. Her vehicle is a swan and sometimes a peacock.
2. Savitri is the second consort of Brahma 3. Sonthaya (Dusk). 4. Sattrupa (a hundred appearances) caused Brahma to have four heads.

2. Ganesha
In Hinduism, Ganesha is one of the most well-known and venerated representations of God. He is the first son of Shiva and Parvati, and the 'consort' of Buddhi (also called Riddhi) and Siddhi. Ganesha is thus considered the master of intellect and wisdom. He is depicted as a big-bellied, yellow or red god with four arms and the head of a one-tusked elephant, riding on, or attended to by, a mouse. He is frequently represented sitting down, with one leg raised in the air and bent over the other. Typically, his name is prefixed with the Hindu title of respect, 'Shree' or Sri.
Ganapati is popularly worshipped in different avataras such as Krishna, Sage Parashurama, Naga (the snake god). He is also depicted as a warrior king and at times in a playful mood with dandiya sticks, the symbol of the navaratri festival.

He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. He has a chubby human body, four arms and elephant�s head.

3. Lord Shiva
Shiva is the god of simplicity, exemplary humility and austerity. A tiger skin and an elephant skin serve as his garments. His long matted hair is normally tied into a knot or left flowing. He has four arms. With one he holds his weapon the trident. With another, he holds Damaru, a small drum. The remaining two is held in abhaya and varada mudras (postures).
The third deity of the Hindu triad of great gods, the Trimurti. Shiva is called the Destroyer (of evil), but has also the aspect of regeneration. As destroyer he is dark and terrible, appearing as a naked ascetic accompanied by a train of hideous demons, encircled with serpents and necklaces of skulls. As auspicious and reproductive power, he is worshipped in the form of the shivling or shiva linga (lingam).
Shiva is depicted as white, with a dark-blue throat, with several arms and three eyes. He carries a trident and rides a white bull. His consort is Parvati(Devi).
