Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

This small book contains a collection of selected discourses, passages and verses in Pali which Buddhists chant daily in monasteries and temples and such collection is know as “Paritta” in Pali, which means principally protection.

This protection is to be obtained by reciting or listening to these parittas. The practice of reciting and listening to the parittas began very early in the history of Buddhism.

This an anthology includes some parittas, but a wider selection of them can be founded in “A Book of Chants”. Though it contains a few pages, yet it will give the readers the idea how do Buddhist monks, novices, and lay devotees, practice their daily chants in their monasteries and how has tradition of paritta-recitation and listening to been handed down from the Lord Buddha’s time to present day.
