Ceremony: Chanting ceremony will be held at Wat NaPhraMen, Ayutthaya Province on July 2012.
History of Wat NaPhraMen:
Wat NaPhraMen has a former name “Wat MayRuRaChiKaRam”. In the past, this temple was the place for cremating a dead body of Ayutthaya’s king. Moreover, there was a legend that Phra Aong Inn built this temple in C.E.1503 (B.E.2046).
This temple is only one in Ayutthaya Era which was not destroyed by Myanmar. Next, there was reconstruction in the reign of King Rama the Third of Rattanakosin Era and King Rama the Third brought Green Buddha Statue in Tawarawadee Era from Wat MaHaThat at SanPetch Viharn (Viharn Noi) to place here. This Buddha Statue is one of the 5 most valuable statues in Thailand.
About Taowessuwan:
In belief of Buddhism, “Taowessuwan” is a male giant angle, as a bodyguard of Buddha and a security guard of the temple. Thai people believe that to worship “Taowessuwan” can bring prosperity, power and wealth.
