Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Biography of LP Tim Isariko:
Luangpu Tim is a compassionate monk who was born on Sunday, in the Buddhist calendar year 2456. By the age of 5, his father sent him to Wat Phikhun to study Thai language under Luangpu Song. Unfortunately his father passed away before he could complete primary schooling, making his mother, the sole bread winner.  At 13, he stopped schooling so as to help his mother in the farm. In repayment gratitude to his parent, he left home to become a monk.  After a year passed, right after a summer retreat, he left monkhood as he could not bear to see elderly mother toiling at the farm. His preceptor, Luangphor Wit thought of ways to retain him but was unsuccessful.
In Buddhist year 2484, Khmer troops invaded Thai border. Luangpu Tim was drafted to join the army and sent to the forefront battle. Luangpu fought with all his might for his country. However, being a compassionate person at heart, he would pray that he would not shoot down a person life every time he fired a shot for his country. He would even pray for the enemies’ safety as he had no intention to kill any life. Needless to say, the enemies were defeated after a few months at war.
There was 7 months of peace before another war started. This time it was World War II. Again, Luangpu was drafted to join the army. The whole of Thai army was up in resistance as Thailand was invaded by Japanese. After 3 years and 8 months of heavy and difficult resistance, the Japanese army finally retreated. Thus Thailand managed to escape a great inexorable doom. Luangpu Tim was able to return home.
Shortly after that, an epidemic broke out and as a consequence, many people in the village were killed. This was the beginning that led to a series of unfortunate event that result Luangpu Tim to take up monkhood again. Sadly, Luangpu Tim was affected too. Luangpu was working in the field one day when he suddenly contracted a serious stomachache. It was so bad that he felt weak all over. At that time, seeing the doctor was almost impossible and medical aids were very limited. It was then that he started praying to the Buddha saying: “I do not wish to die yet as  I have not made any contributions and dedication to Buddhism. Please give me a chance. Even I were to die, my mind will be settled if my wish is attained”.
On that torturous night, he had a dream whereby he was blessed with a sacred prescription. The next day, upon his request, his wife dug out gingers at their backyard, mixed it with rice wine after pounding. Miraculously, Luangpu gradually recovered. This incident has triggered Luangpu an urge to renounce everything and to become a monk again, as he began to feel that life was full of impermanence.
The second incident that happened was so remarkable that it intensified Luangpu’s determination to become monk again.  One evening, when heading home from his brother’s house, he passed by Wat Phikhun. At this point, he suddenly felt the weakening of his legs which ended him kneeling on the road. At this very same time, chanting was heard from the direct of the main sanctum of the temple. It was at this moment he raised his hands in wai and praying to the Buddha and seeking blessing for opportunity to become monk again.
One day, while Luangpu Tim was cutting grass to feed the cows, a blade of grass got stuck in his eyes. The pain was so extreme that tears flowed out from his eye and it almost blinded him. This third incident acted to intensified even further Luangpu’s determination to become monk again.  He thought to himself: “I must leave home to become a monk again”. When he was feeling better, he was out again to cut grass a few days later. As the day was flooded, Luangpu cut the grass standing in a small boat with one foot in it, and the other, immersed in water.
Suddenly, there was a heavy stench which was caused by water contamination with rotten oil residuals. As Luangpu Tim has natural inert wisdoms, he thought to himself:  “Life is just like that, everyone is inseparable from stench as they start decaying when they die”.  Nothing follows them when they become dust except for Karma and merits. Thus, he finally renounced everything to become a monk again. Luangpu Tim’s wish was fulfilled on the 19th day of the 4th month on the year 2491 in the Buddhist calendar at Wat Phikhun.
