Info: **Nun Boonruen: The Most Holy Nun in Thailand**
Mae Chee (Nun) Boonruen, also known as Mrs. Boonruen Tongboonterm, is a revered figure in Thailand. She was born on Sunday, March 4, 1894, in Ayutthaya Province, with the birth name Mrs. Boonruen Klinphaka. Growing up in a poor family, she learned to read and write Thai and take care of household chores with the help of her parents.
As a young woman, she encountered LP Phring, the abbot of Wat Bangpakok, who inspired her to study the teachings of Buddha, perform good deeds, and practice meditation. Eventually, she married a policeman named Mr. Joi Tongboonterm, who was stationed at the Samphanthawong District Police Station, but they did not have children. Together, they shared a deep commitment to making merit and pursuing spiritual growth, often visiting the temple. After her husband was ordained as a monk for a year, he later resigned, and she took her vows as a nun at Wat Samphanthawong, where she became proficient in intensive meditation. Tragically, her husband passed away in an accident in 1936 when she was 42. Nun Boonruen was known for her remarkable spiritual abilities, which she used to assist others. She passed away on September 7, 1964, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of many who remember her numerous acts of kindness. Today, a statue of Nun Boonruen can be found at Wat Awutwikasitaram, also known as Wat Bangphladnork, in Bangkok.
**The Miraculous Abilities of Nun Boonruen**
1) In June 1927, Nun Boonruen became annoyed with her husband for his restless movements at night. In a moment of frustration, she wished to be transported to the pavilion at his police station. Miraculously, she found herself in the pavilion, yet her friends didn’t believe her claim. To prove her ability, they requested that she repeat the act; despite the doors and windows being locked, Nun Boonruen managed to appear in the pavilion once again!
2) She possessed the extraordinary gift of healing. In one instance, she helped an elderly man who was unable to walk properly due to a severe spinal deformity. She instructed him, “Put down your walking stick and walk strongly,” and astonishingly, the man's back straightened, enabling him to walk freely. In another case, a man suffering from a debilitating stomach ache couldn’t sleep. Nun Boonruen assured him, “You will feel no pain tonight,” and remarkably, he experienced no discomfort that night and eventually recovered completely.
3) Nun Boonruen also had an exceptional ability to hear everything. One day, after healing a woman with painful legs, the grateful lady offered her money for her help. However, after she left, the woman's husband scolded her for giving money to Nun Boonruen. The following morning, Nun Boonruen returned to the woman’s house and handed back the money, revealing that she had heard everything the husband had said.
Through these incredible stories, Nun Boonruen's compassionate spirit and extraordinary abilities continue to inspire and resonate with people to this day.
