From: LP Mahasurasak, Wat Pradu, Samut Songkhram Province

Origin: Thailand

Year: 2561 B.E. (2018 C.E.)

Objective: to earn donations for restoring Wat Pradu and public benefits

Ceremony: holy blessing by LP Mahasurasak on the auspicious occasion at Wat Pradu

In Buddhism, there is a sacred bowl which contains holy water called “Bath Nam Mon” like we see a monk sprinkle holy water on people for auspiciousness with a cluster of palm leaf stalks. For worship, you pour clean water into this sacred bowl and then place it on the shelf of Buddha statues or amulets. When you chant at the shelf of Buddha, the auspiciousness will come to the bowl and make the water holy. After that, you use this holy water to drink or wash your face or your head. Buddhists believe to do that will bring them auspiciousness and good health or make them recover from illness.

Belief about Phra Kring:

Phra Kring is a famous Buddha amulet in Thailand. Thai people believe Phra Kring can make the wishes of the wisher come true, bring wealth, good luck, prosperity, happiness and safety to the worshiper and also make the worshiper recover from illness or diseases. One feature of Phra Kring is to have a metal bead inside that will have a sound when being shaken where the word “Kring” comes from.

In the reign of King Rama III, there was the spreading of cholera that killed many Thai people. Somdej Phrawannarat (LP Daeng) abbot of Wat Suthat, Bangkok blessed Phra Kring amulet in the water and gave out water to people. People who drank that water (including LP Daeng) could get over cholera.

Thai people believe holy water with Phra Kring can carry off illness and bad luck. You can make by yourself, first, prepare the clean water. Second, dip Phra Kring amulet in the water and chant Katha of Phra Kring. When finishing, take Phra Kring amulet out of the water. This holy water can be drunk for curing illness or used to wash face or body to remove bad luck.

About LP Mahasurasak:

When talking about Samut Songkhram province, we think of many skilled guru monks such as LP Kong of Wat Bang Kapom, LP Jai of Wat Sadet, LP Nueang of Wat Chulamanee and LP Yord of Wat Kaew Charoen. Those mentioned already passed away, but there is one guru monk who is experienced and accepted as much as those. This is Luangpho Mahasurasak.

LP Mahasurasak (Birthday 6 July 1961) is abbot of Wat Pradu in Samut Songkhram province. He keeps on superb mantras of famous guru monks in the past. Today, LP Mahasurasak is a top guru monk of Thailand. When there is a blessing ceremony, there is LP Mahasurasak. We often see him in many blessing ceremonies. LP Mahasurasak does not only have good knowledge of mantras, but also astrology and sculpture.

LP Mahasurasak was born in Samut Songkhram province, so he is attached to his province. Samut Songkhram people love and respect LP Mahasurasak very much because he is friendly to everyone. Some people who talked to LP Mahasurasak and got teachings from him repented and corrected their behaviors. Moreover, he develops his temple as a learning center of local wisdom for people in the community.

REAL EXPERIENCE: For holiness of amulets by LP Mahasurasak, this is a true story of a man who wears Phra Khun Paen amulet from LP Mahasurasak. A man said that he got Phra Khun Paen from LP Mahasurasak and it saved him from fatal accident on 11 August 2009. At that day, while he was driving home, a car in front of him lost of control and went to his car, but fortunately that car slid aside. A man believed Phra Khun Paen from LP Mahasurasak saved him!
