Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Belief about Phra Buddha Chinnarat:

Phra Buddha Chinnarat is one of the most beautiful and venerated Buddha sculptures in posture of submitting Mara in Thailand. Wat Yai or formally called Wat PhraSriRattanaMahathat Woramahavihan, Phitsanulok Province is famous throughout Thailand for this gold cast Phra Buddha Chinnarat, also known as “Victory Buddha” to the Thais.

Phra Buddha Chinnarat has been patronized by Thai Kings. The royal family in Thailand firmly believed in Phra Buddha Chinnarat until the extent that King Rama 5 faithfully made several copies of the Victory Buddha to be placed in other parts of Thailand including Wat Benchamabophit in Bangkok and Wat Saranatthammaram in Rayong. However, the original Phra Buddha Chinnarat at Wat Yai remained as the most popular and why is it so? We may want to dwell into the history making of this sacred Buddha, second in Thailand after the sacred Emerald Buddha of Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.

Thai people believe to worship Phra Buddha Chinnaraj can increase the merit of the worshipper especially an authority as well as bring auspicious things, happiness, success and prosperity to the life of the worshipper. Moreover, this Buddha amulet will drive out disturbing spirits, black magic, obstacles and trouble as well as protect the worshiper from dangers and unexpected harmful incidents that may occur.

**Real Experience: Dr. Siwawit, an instructor of the Faculty of Political Science, Pathumthani University won the lottery after dreaming of Phra Buddha Chinnarat. He said one night he dreamt of Phra Buddha Chinnarat. When waking up, he recalled that he had given someone Phra Buddha Chinnarat statuette that the base has number 14044. He searched for lottery with that serial number, but didn’t find 14 and 41.Then he chose number 44 (the last two numbers) and sooner after he won the lottery.

History of Wat Suthat :
Wat Suthat is on Bamrung Muang Road and is famous for the excellent murals created in the reign of King Rama III. The Wihara (preaching hall) should be seen for its collection of gilded Buddha images. A huge door with intricate carving, which is the masterpiece of King Rama II, once belonged to this temple and is now kept in the National Museum. In front of the temple is the Giant Swing or Sao Ching Cha, where a Bra manic ceremony had taken place until the early 20th century. Many nearby shops stock a very comprehensive range of Buddhist religious supplies.

Wat Suthat was constructed in 1807 after the 27th anniversary of the founding of Bangkok by King Rama I. The main Wihan is surrounded by a cirulambutory area of three levels. On the uppermost level are mounted small chapels for each of its four corners. Phra Sisakayamuni, the main Buddha image, is larger and older than any other bronze cast Buddha image in Thailand. The base of the image is 6.25 metres wide and has a height of 8 metres.
