Krapa AriyaChat is well-known around Thailand with his dovotion in dharma practice and propagation. Moreover every year during Buddhist Lent, Krapa AriyaChat does holy ritual called “Yoo Kam” that he must do meditation intensively without speaking, eating and toilet for 7 days drinking only water filtered with 7-layered thin fabric. This ritual seems very difficult for ordinary people to do except holy people.
To do this ritual, disciples prepare a place by digging 50 cm-deep hole on the ground, bottom padded with grass for Krapa AriyaChat to sit and a roof made of grass overhead. Around the ritual area is marked with holy wood to prevent fierce animals, spirits and demons.
During the ritual, disciples and monks from different temples take turn to take care near the ritual place. There are many people waiting to offer food to Krapa AriyaChat in the morning when the ritual is over. People believe this ritual is very holy, so whoever does will be full of great merit. That means if they offer food to the monk who already passes this ritual, they will gain a lot of merit too.
