History of Wat Sangkrajai:
It is said that at the beginning of the digging of the Ubosot, one Buddha image and a conch were found. Only the conch was damaged by the force of the shovel that was dug. The Buddha image that was excavated at that time was kept as a pair of monks in the monastery. After the temple was successfully built, His Majesty King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok took the vision of that cause and gave it the name "Wat Sang Krai".
Wat Sangkrajai is a royal monastery on the banks of the Bangkok Yai canal on the north bank. It is an ancient temple where His Majesty King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok (Rama 1) established Chao Chom Waen or Khun Suea (king's most favorite concubine). Until King Rama III renovated this temple.
