Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Thao Jatukham Rammathep is the guardian deity of the pagoda of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan (Chedi Phra BorommaThat) and the city pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. In Hinduism, Thao Jatukham Rammathep is a high deity. Thao Jatukham Rammathep image is seen on the staircase door of the Chedi. In CE 1987, the city pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat was completed which has Thao Jatukham on. The committee and people in Nakhon Si Thammarat donated money to the construction of the city pillar. Before the city pillar was finished, big sacred events inviting Thao Jatukham spirit to come were held many times. The committee made Jatukham amulets that cooperated with Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan and gave amulets to people who donated money. With intensive sacred blessing ceremony, a Jatukham amulet is very powerful. Many Jatukham amulet owners had wonderful experiences, so a Jatukham amulet became the talk of the town and has been famous since then.

History of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan:
Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan is located in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. This is a royal temple of the first class. Formerly named Wat Phra Borom That, this is one of the most important historical sites in southern Thailand and in all of Thailand.
According to the legend of Phra Borom That Nakhon Si Thammarat, Prince Thanakuman and Queen Hem Chala brought Buddha relics to Hat Sai Kaeo and built a small pagoda to mark the location.
Later on, King Si-Thamma Sokarat established the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat and built a new pagoda. The present pagoda has a distinctive Sri Lankan style, measuring 55.78 metres high (measured by the Fine Arts Department during the renovation of the gold top in 1995). The height from the lotus base to the gold top is 6.80 metres. The top is entirely covered by pure gold. Inside the temple are many buildings of importance, especially the royal building which has beautiful architecture from the Ayutthaya period and the Sam Chom building where the Buddha image attired in royal wardrobe, Phra Si Thamma Sokarat, is housed. There are also the Phra Maha Phinetkrom (the equestrian image) building and the Thap Kaset building, while the Khian and Pho Lanka buildings are used to display artifacts that were donated to the temple by Buddhists.

About Guru Monk:

Phra Kru Arthonthammapinit or Luang Por Ueam (Southern people call Phothan Ueam) is a revered guru monk of Phatthalung Province. LP Ueam was born in Phatthalung Province on 22 October 2474 (1931CE). After first ordination, resigned to look after parents and got married.
In adolescence, LP Ueam studied magic of Khao Or , the oldest magical forum of the South with Khao Or alumnus “Maw Kaew” (father of his wife) who was a disciple of Phra Ajarn Thongthao, a former abbot of Wat Khao Or (in Phatthalung Province) and LP Pal, another abbot of Wat Khao Or who was very excellent at magic and mantras.
LP Ueam said at first he thought LP Pal a common old monk, but one day while getting stuck in the rain, LP Pal told LP Ueam to accompany him. On that day, LP Ueam refused because he afraid that he would get wet. Immediately, LP Pal held his hand and walked in the rain. Wonderfully, walking with LP Pal, LP Ueam did not get wet at all! That event made LP Ueam admire LP Pal and asked him for being a disciple.

LP Ueam got ordained again when he was 63 at Wat Kuan Phanang Tung in his hometown. And this second ordination, LP Ueam has intention to continue monkhood all his life.

Today, LP Ueam is an abbot of Wat Suan Pa Taling Chan in Phatthalung Province giving people favors such as anointing houses, shops, cars, etc. for good luck, wealth and security.
