Candle Lighting, the Old Northern Thai Belief: Bringing Luck & Various Energies
Candles are a common item around the modern home. We use them for emergency lighting during a power cut. Or we light them to alter the mood during a romantic dinner or a pampering bath. They’re also synonymous with magic – think of wishing on your birthday cake or lighting candles for a spell!

Luangpu Thuad (1582-1682 C.E.) is a revered Buddhist monk in Thailand. He is said to have performed miracles. LP Thuad is mentioned in the early regional history of Southern Thailand, but his life is mainly preserved in oral. His journey throughout the Southern peninsula constitutes a path of pilgrimage for many of his followers.

The History of “Ta Khai”
Ta Khai is name of old Guman Thong spirit. It is a famous sculpture presented by Wat Chedi in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, the South of Thailand.
Amazingly, Wat Chedi releases Guman Thong Ai Khai amulets for worship once per ten years! It is so long because the consecration is very holy and has to invite Guman Ta Khai spirit to come.

People tell that Ta Khai is a boy following LP Thuad on pilgrimage. When LP Thuad came to Wat Chedi, Si Chon district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, he ordered Ta Khai to look after the temple for him. After that, Ta Khai died while he was only a boy and Ta Khai spirit has lived there since then. Ta Khai spirit always keeps an eye on the temple. Whoever comes without permission or breaks into to steal things will be frightened by Ta Khai spirit.

About Temple:
Wat Huay Chorakhe is a well-known temple in Nakhon Pathom. This temple is famous for Phra PidTa Hu Kratai (Hu Kratai: rabbit ear shape) first created by LP Nark who was the first abbot. This Phra PidTa by LP Nark is very strong in protection and wealth. There is the big Phra PidTa Hu Kratai image at the front of Wat Huay Chorakhe.
