Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

About Temple:

Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan is situated in Suphanburi Province, in the Central of Thailand. It is one of the most important temples in this Province and well-known among Thai people. It’s very ancient which is approx. 100 years up.

The most important thing is a huge sitting Buddha image, called Luang Pho To, which is very magnificent and sacred. Most people love to go there to worship the Buddha image and make a merit.

There are many murals around the temple hall. From the mural paintings, you will also see the Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen which is the famous ancient Thai literature.

The hero is the one who is at the center of the picture. His name is Khun Phaen. He is a handsome man and has many wives. He used to be a little monk when he was a child. He is a great soldier. He has a white horse, called "Simok".

His beloved wife is the one who is at the right side of the pic. Her name is Wanthong. She is very beautiful woman. There are many men loving her, including Khun Chang. She had to be Khun Chang's wife by his trick while Khun Phaen was going for the war; i.e. Khun Chang told her that Khun Phaen was dead. That made Khun Phaen feel very angry. When he came back home, he took Wanthong from Khun Chang.

Having two husbands was unacceptable for ancient Thai society. When knowing that Wanthong cannot choose whom she would love to stay with, this made the king of the town be very angry. So, Wanthong is finally sentenced to death. This story is about love, war and tragedy.
