Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

More about Phra Rod Amulet:
Phra Rod amulets are one of the Benjapakee amulet set. They were discovered in the reign of the King Rama 5 (Phra Bat Somdet Phra Poraminthra Maha Chulalongkorn Phra Chunla Chom Klao Chao Yu Hua) when the stupa of “Wat Mahawan” in Lamphun Province had collapsed. Phra Rod amulets are considered one of the oldest amulets which are around 1,250 years old. In Thai, Phra Rod symbolizes the Buddha of survival, as the word “Rod” means to survive from danger.

Initially, Phra Rod Amulets were crafted by the Rishis or the hermit. According to the legend of the Hariphunchai era, Lamphun Province (Northern Thailand) was established by groups of ascetics. The ascetics had chosen “Chama Dhevi” a princess from Lopburi Province as the queen of this city. And they were right of choosing her. “Queen Chama Devi” brings peace to every city she passes. Indeed, Hariphunchai became a peaceful and prosperous city during her prestige. The ascetics decided to make amulets to strengthen the protection to their queen and the citizen. Some of the amulets were given to people and some were kept under the stupa of Wat Mahawan.
