About Temple:
Wat Traimitwittayaram Worawiharn (shortly called Wat Traimit) is located in Samphanthawong District, Bangkok. In this temple, there is the biggest pure-golden Buddha statue in the world located. The biggest golden Buddha statue in the world is named “Phra Phutthamahasuwanpatimakorn” or well-known as “Luang Pho Thongkham”. This Buddha statue is made of pure gold and 3.5 meters and 21 inches tall and about 5.5 tons heavy. This Buddha statue is recorded by Guinness Book of World Records in 1990. This is the mention in Guinness Book for the biggest Buddha statue in Thailand, highest intrinsic value is the 15th-century gold Buddah in Wat Traimit Temple in Bangkok, Thailand. It is 3-04 m 10 ft tall and weighs an estimated 51/2 tonnes. At the April 1990 price of $ 227 per fine ounce, its intrinsic worth was $ 21.1 million. The gold under the plaster exterior was found only in 1954.
