Phra Kaew Morakot or The Emerald Buddha is the most important Buddha statue in Thailand because it was established as the Buddha statue of Thailand when Rattanakosin Era was established by King Rama the First in 1782. It is kept in Wat Phrasrirattanasatsadaram (Wat Phra Kaew), Grand Palace in Bangkok. It is famous among foreign tourists as an outstanding attraction in Bangkok which they wish to see once in life.
The Emerald Buddha image or “Phra Kaew Morakot” wearing an attire of gold and precious jewels is seated on a very ornate raised alter in the ubosot. The 66 centimeter tall image in meditation mudra is carved from a single piece of dark green jade. Three times per year, at the start of the summer, rainy and cool season the King changes the attire of the Emerald Buddha during an impressive ceremony.
The Biography of LP Pern:
LP Pern Tithakunoe was born in Nakhon Pathom Province on the 12th of August 1923. He studied magic from LP Dang of Wat ToongKauk Suphan Buri Province when he was a Layman. LP Dang has been a guru monk who has knowledge of Visha and meditation. LP Pern wanted to study magic charms for protecting himself from the dangerous elements of the region. He was a soldier at the age of 21-22. After that, LP Pern commenced studies spiritual tattoos or Yant composition from LP Huem of Wat Bang Phra who was a teacher in magic and sorcery.
LP Pern was ordained at the age of 25 at Wat Bang Phra more than 4 years, until LP Huem passed away. He has been an expert of concentration of mindfulness in Buddhism way. After that, he went to LP OhPahSee temple for building up knowledge of Visha and Buddhism way, about 1 year.
In 1953, LP Pern went on a pilgrimage in the deep jungle alone to border of Thailand and Burma .Tudong is monk’s journey togain knowledge to build up good karma and to know the teaching of Buddha. In the year 1966, admirers and disciples of LP Pern erected a statue of him in honor and respect of all the great acts of compassion. He had performed for the folk of Nakhon Pathom Province.
LP Pern was Abbot of Wat Koeg Khaemaa in Nakhon Pathom, but after the erection of this statue, was invited to become Abbott of Wat Bang Phra, Nakhon Pathom Province. He has been one of the most famous present-time. LP Pern passed away in BE2545 (CE2002) at the age of 79.
