Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Jatukam Ramathep in Thailand— Jatukam Ramathep (shortly called Jatukam) is the god who guards Phra Borommathat Chedi (the important pagoda of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province which contains Buddha relics, located at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan). In 2530 BE (1987 CE), there was the construction of the new city pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and Brahmans invited Jatukam Ramathep to obsess in the city pillar in order to bring happiness and peacefulness to the city.

- Jatu means ‘four implying four directions’
- Kam means ‘boundary’
- Rama means ‘the seventh avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu’
- Thep means ‘deity’

Therefore, Southern people also believe Jatukam Ramathep is the avatar of Lord Vishnu whose duty is to guard Nakhon Si Thammarat City.

Another belief, Jatukam Ramathep is a soul of king of Nakhon Si Thammarat Kingdom named Phra Jow Jantraphanu who made merit with spontaneous wish to attain Bodhisattva for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Jatukam Ramathep is widely worshiped, believed powerful in everything. According to Srivichai stone inscription, power of Jatukam Ramathep seems the sun and the moon which remove the dark from the earth. Praying to Jatukam Ramathep has 3 conditions:
1. Pray for something possible that is not against the ethics.
2. Keep promise with Jatukam Ramathep after being fulfilled.
3. Should make merit and dedicate to Jatukam Ramathep.

Not only praying to Jatukam Ramathep, but a prayer should also do 3 things: donation, precepts and Phawana (chanting and meditation) in order to be truly propitious for life.

First Jatukam Ramathep amulet was created in 2530 BE (1987 CE) to celebrate finished city pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province by Khun Phantharakratchadet (number 1 buster police) and the committee. First Jatukam Ramathep amulet is regarded precious and very holy because of grand blessing ceremony gathering many famous guru monks of the South.

History of Namo Medal :

According to legend, it was said that Lord Sri Thammakaram built the coin of Namo with a noble Brahmin ritual by invoking the three gods before the royal family (Pattamawong dynasty) will be born in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Before the 18th century, Namo was the currency used to exchange goods, which is expected to continue from the 12th century onwards.

The name may come from the word "Nama" or "Namus", a word that is expressed to show respect for God. The symbol of Namo at that time should have a meaning associated with the Brahmanism of the sect. But later, during the royal family, King Srithammasokraj changed the role of Namo from currency exchange to be a talisman to protect against danger.

For the character "Namo" is a Parawa script of ancient India, a sacred character of the South Sea, thinking that Namo may refer to humility or referring to the heart of the Buddhist incantations that we often say, "Namotassa Pawakato Arahato Samma Samputtassa”.

The creation of Namo would have been a Brahmin as a ceremonial traditionally since ancient times. Especially before Songkran Day, there will be Phanyak Prayer to expel evil and invite Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma to be in Namo's coin and then sow them around Nakhon Si Thammarat city to prevent pandemics.

Currently, Namo has changed from currency to become a talisman and developing into jewelry that people are fond of buying as souvenirs for their loved ones whether rings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, etc. If wanting confidence of real Namo coin, must from Nakhon Si Thammarat Province only.
