Ceremony: This Somdej Toh medal received proper blessing by abbot and monks at Wat Bot on the auspicious date.

About Somdej Toh:
Somdej Toh Phromrangsi or frequently called Somdej Toh is a timeless monk of Thailand and the first monk who created Phra Somdej. He was a former abbot of Wat Rakhang, Bangkok. He was born in the reign of King Rama I (early Rattanagosin period) on Thursday the 17th April BE 2331 (CE 1788). He got ordained as a novice in BE 2343 (CE 1800). He got ordained as a monk in BE 2350 (CE 1807). In BE 2407 (CE 1864), he was given a rank as “Somdej Toh” ( Somdej is a word for
a high-ranking monk). Somdej Toh passed away on Saturday the 22nd June BE 2415 (CE 1872) at age 85.

For Your Information of Wat Bot, Pathum Thani Province :
Wat Bot is situated in Tambon Ban Klang on the east side of the Chao Phraya River. It can be visited by crossing Pathum Thani Bridge to the east side. Wat Bot was constructed in 1621 by the Mons who migrated from Pegu or Hongsawadi town. The name of the temple was from the village where the Mons had previously lived, similar to many other temples in Pathum Thani such as Wat Hong, Wat Bang Tanai, etc. People usually come to pay respect to a large statue of Somdej Toh Phromrangsi and the statues of three Buddha images in the ubosot and the cast statue of Luang Pu Thian (Phrakhru Bowonthammakit), a senior monk who possesed high knowledge and tried to promote education among the Pathum Thani people.
