Ceremony: There was holy blessing by the abbot and respectable guru monks in the Ubosot of Wat Rakhang on the auspicious day.

Power: Phra Somdej is number one amulet in Thailand. The first Phra Somdej in history was created by Somdej Toh Phromrangsi (Wat Rakhang, Bangkok). People believe Phra Somdej amulet can protect them from dangers, enemies, spirits, black magic and bad things, to induce good luck and fortune.

About Wat Rakhang:
Wat Rakhang is the important ancient temple in Bangkok. It is situated on the Thonburi side, opposite Tha Chang Wang Luang Pier. Wat Rakhang was built during the Ayutthaya Period. This temple is famous for Somdej Toh, the great timeless monk of Thailand who was an original Phra Somdej creator and a former abbot here.

Somdej Toh (or Somdet Phra Phutthachan Toh Phrommarangsi) was born in the reign of King Rama I (early Rattanagosin period) on Thursday the 17th April B.E. 2331 (C.E. 1788). He got ordained as a novice in B.E. 2343 (C.E. 1800). He got ordained as a monk in B.E. 2350 (C.E. 1807). In B.E. 2407 (C.E. 1864), he was given a rank as Somdej Toh (Somdej is a word for a high-ranking monk). Somdej Toh passed away on Saturday the 22nd June B.E. 2415 (C.E. 1872) at age 84.
