About Temple:
Wat Bang Plee Yai Nai is a longtime well-known temple in Samut Prakan Province. Situated with holy Pang Marvichai Buddha image called ‘Luang Por Toh’, the art of Sukhothai era. This temple has a former name ‘Wat Plabphachaichanasongkhram’ that means ‘the victory pavilion’. The history is that when King Naresuan and his troops chased up Burmese enemies to the east of Ayutthaya, he stopped at the anonymous Tambon (sub-district) and held the sacrifice ceremony for successful battle. Then King Naresuan won the war, he came back and named that place ‘Wat Plabphachaichanasongkhram’. Later, temple was built and people called after the name of Tambon ‘Wat Bang Plee’ and the installation of ‘Luang Por Toh’, so temple was renamed ‘Wat Bang Plee Yai Nai (also ‘Wat Luang Por Toh’) and has used this name until now.
