Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Si Hoo Ha Ta , the Lucky Angel:

‘Thep In’ is a name of a legendary animal of Hinduism. In Hindu belief, Indra Deity transformed himself into a monster that had four ears and five eyes called ‘Si Hoo Ha Ta ’ in order to help people. In Thailand, Thep In is a name of a monster amulet which is known well in the north of Thailand. People believe that Thep In amulet can make them lucky, run business well, live in peacefulness, change bad fortune to good fortune and fulfill the owner’s wishes.

The Story of Si Hoo Ha Ta :

Once upon a time, there was a beggar family. That family had 3 members: father, mother and son. Then mother died. After that, father died. Before father died, he told his son to bury his dead body and take out his skull when it falls out. Father told his son to roll his skull along the ground. Father told his son to make a trap where his skull stops and take a trapped animal home to feed. Father said a trapped animal would bring good luck. After father died, his son did all what his father told.

One day, a monster was trapped. It looked like a gorilla with four eyes and five eyes. The son brought the monster home. When he got home, he made a bonfire. The monster was so hungry and ate red charcoals in front of him. The son was amazed. Moreover, when the monster finished, it produced gold feces. The boy kept the gold in his garden and soon his garden was full of gold.

One day, the son heard the news that the king was finding the bridegroom for his daughter, but it was not easy. The king challenged all men in the town that he will give his daughter when the man could build the gold gutter to the castle. No one could, except the son. He used gold feces from the monster to build the gutter. The son married the princess as he wished.

However, the king was anxious to know how his son - in - law could get the gold. The king asked the son and the son told the king everything. So, the king and his guards came to catch the monster. When they arrived, the monster was frightened and ran way. It went in the cave. No one saw the monster ever since.

About LP Maha Buntham (adopted child of LP Waen Sujinno):

LP Maha Buntham is an abbot of Wat Pa KhunsuekSongkhramChai, Phetchabun Province. He was born in 1960 in Roi Et Province. When he was young, he had a chance to serve LP Waen Sujinno who was a famous meditation monk in the past (now he is dead and there are many of his believers around Thailand). At that time, LP Waen traveled on a pilgrimage and reached Roi Et Province. He stayed contemporarily at Wat Ban Khoi in Roi Et. LP Maha Buntham went to pay respect to LP Waen at the temple. LP Waen felt very good with LP Maha Buntham, so he adopted LP Maha Buntham as his son. With esteem in LP Waen, LP Maha Buntham asked his parents to follow LP Waen.

After that, LP Maha Buntham accompanied LP Waen to Chiang Mai Province and got ordained as a Buddhist novice there. After ordination, LP Maha Buntham studied dharma and meditation with LP Waen, and moreover LP Waen introduced his friend ‘LP Tue’ to LP Maha Buntham. Then LP Maha Buntham went to serve and study with LP Tue for 5 years.

During 1970- 1972, LP Maha Buntham studied meditation with LP Ariyatham (monk in way of LP Mun Phurithatto) at Wat Phutphromvihan, Nong Khai Province.

In 1983, LP Maha Buntham came back to his hometown (Roi Et Province) and got ordained as a Buddhist monk. After that, LP Maha Buntham kept up a pilgrimage to many places.

In 1992, LP Maha Buntham reached Phetchabun Province. One night, while he was doing meditation, he saw in mind a holy spirit who protects the forest. The holy spirit talked with LP Maha Buntham for a period time and before LP Maha Bunthan went out of meditation, that holy spirit told him to go to the cemetery called ‘Pa Cha Ban Klong Bon’ to see ‘Jow Pu Khunsuek Songkhramchai’. In fact, Jow Pu Khunsuek Songkhramchai is a soul of city governor in ancient time that he wanted LP Maha Buntham to build the temple. LP Maha Buntham received much respect and admiration from people. Then he led people to build the temple which today is Wat Pa Khunsuek Songkhramchai.
