About Temple:
Wat Phantai Norasing is located in Samut Sakhon Province. Wat Phantai Norasing was built in BE 2532 (CE 1989) in 6 acres. This temple was named after Phantai Norasing, a royal oarsman of Phrajow Suer, the 29th king of Ayutthaya kingdom.
Phantai Norasing is praised in his loyalty to the king and honesty in his duty even having to sacrifice his life. One day, while Phantai Norasing rowing the boat that had Phrajow Suer. The boat accidentally hit the big branch and the head of the boat broke. Phantai Norasing realized his mistake and asked Phrajow Suer for decapitation. Although, Phrajow Suer was not angry with him, Phantai Norasing asked the king many times referring to the rule of royal oarsman who made a mistake. Therefore, at last, Phrajow Suer gave him the death sentence. This story shows such honesty in duty of Phantai Norasing and he became the model of honesty for Thai generations.
Back to the temple, there is the shrine of Phantai Norasing next to it. People believe the shrine stands on the same place as where Phantai Norasing was decapitated. Many Thai people come to Phantai Norasing Shrine to pay respect to him and also pray to him for help. Many of them were fulfilled in their wishes and offered a fighting cock statue to Phantai Norasing as thanks because Phantai Norasing liked to play cock fighting. Now, the shrine is full of fighting cock statues.
Besides, there is the beautiful mural in the chapel. There is also holy main Buddha statue named Somdej Ong Pathom (the first Buddha who was born in the world) in the chapel and Luang Por Ruesi Lingdam statue in front of the chapel. LP Ruesi Lingdam was a revered monk of Thailand. He passed away many years ago. In fact, LP Ruesi Lingdam did not stay here, but LP Chalaw (a present abbot) is a disciple of LP Ruesi Lingdam (studied dharma and meditation with LP Ruesi Lingdam 1983-1989). LP Chalaw has faith in LP RuesiLingdam, so he built LP Ruesi Lingdam statue to honor him.
