FYI: Kathin (also Kathin Samakkee) is title of Buddhist merit activity annually held after Ork Phansa or the end of Buddhist Lent and must be done within one month. During Kathin, groups of Buddhist laity usually collect money from one another and donate to temples including offering necessary stuff to monks.
About Temple:
Wat MettaThamPoTiYan is a Chinese-style Buddhist temple, located in Kanchanaburi Province, the western Thailand. All parts of the temple are wood with roof, wall, poles and other structures in Chinese art. Moreover, the temple has the big wooden main Guan Yin statue, height 12 meters and more than 100 postures of Guan Yin statues carved from scented wood. This temple was established on 14 October 2542 BE (1999 CE). Wat MettaThamPoTiYan is a good place to visit. It is convenient to come here by a personal car because the public bus does not stop at the temple.
