Information:
Nakorn Niello Wares (Thai: Krueang Thom Mueang Nakhon) is well-known for beautiful authentic silver accessories in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand. With unique beauty and quality of products by skillful Thai artisans, Nakorn Niello Wares is popular.

Niello is a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead sulphides, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal. It can be used for filling in designs cut from metal. The Egyptians are credited with originating Niello decoration, which spread throughout Europe during the late Iron Age and is common in Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and other types of Early Medieval jewelry.

In Thailand, this kind of silver art existed in the past. Niello appeared as high-class wares and accessories of the royal family. Creation of Niello is handed down from generation to generation. Nowadays, there is a small amount of people who can make this kind of silver art, so Thai authorities try to conserve it for the next generation.

The production of Thai Niello products is quite complicated. There are 6 steps of making:
1. Mixing 3 kinds of metal (lead, copper and silver) together to fill in the case.
2. Shaping with a silver sheet
3. Writing gold detail
4. Enameling
5. Editing Shape
6. Polishing

Niello Maintenance: Clean with cleansing substance for silver wares only.
