Description: Buddha Sothon (well-known as Luang Por Sothon) is the famous Buddha image, situated in the chapel of Wat Sothonwararam Worawihan, Chachoengsao Province. People from different parts of Thailand visit the temple every day to pay respect to Luang Por Sothon. People say that Luang Por Sothon is very holy because the Buddha can fulfill wishes of prayers.
They say worshiping Luang Por Sothon is good for life that person will be protected, prosperous and have progression. Many sellers in Chachoengsao Province popularly put pictures of Luang Por Sothon in their shops in order to bring wealth.
The legend says before Luang Por Sothon is situated in Ubosot (the chapel), this Buddha image floated along the river (assumed from the North). When people saw the Buddha, they tried to take Buddha up the shore. But they could not. So, they built the temporary shrine and did the ceremony before taking up the Buddha. With this way, they successfully took Buddha out of the river.
About Temple:
Wat Sothonwararam Worawihan is a temple in Chachoengsao Province, located in the Municipality of Mueang Chachoengsao alongside the Bang Pakong River. It was initially named Wat Hong and built in late Ayutthaya period. The temple has Luang Por Sothon, the revered Buddha image of Chachoengsao Province, which is 1.48 meters high, with a lap width 1.65 meters.
