Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

The Legend of Sacred Holy Water

NumMon Luang  Phor ThongSuk

On Friday 25th and Saturday 26th April 2008, Phitsanulok province by Phitsaanulok Governor scheduled the “King PhutTaPiSet – SomPoch”. The amulet in the set of Phitsanulok province History, Land Sacred class. In order to find a fund for supporting the Host of National Sports 37th –Phitsaulok Game. Between 14-24 December 2008 at Phraphutachinaraj Throne. By bringing the style of old age that Ajarn Thep Sarikabutr and first instructor Phong at Wat Chakrawat Rachawart (Sam-plum) conducted.

Following the history at Krung Rataha Kosin, the ritual of King Phut Ta Pi Set – the first time happened on King Rama I.

And had come to celebrate this ritual again on 20th January 1972 at the King Phumiphol era by Phitsaanulok Buddha Association held “The King MaHaPhutTaPiSet”

At Phraputtha Chinaraj Throhe, Wat Phra Sri Mahathad for bringing the sacred amnlets to make sacred ritual.

The sacred amulets in this class have Phraphuachinaraj miniature, Phra Chaiwat, Phra Kring Naraesuan wanychan, Phra Phim and Maha Jakapat coins etc.

At that moment, Ajarn Thep said in the ritual that “holy water from the head of Luang Phor Thongsuk, King Naraesuan Maharaj brought to gild Phra Sang Rat Satra and it was the temple for making sacred or patenting by some magic war equipment from Ayutthaya until now”.

The Jakapat MaHaPhutTaPiSet ceremony was a big ritual and hard for finding the Host of the Ritual and also the recipe scripture and the abbot who can say the scripture. In this ritual, Phra Ajarn Phong Jinda at Wat Chakawat Rajawat, Bangkok and Ajarn Thep Sarikabutr who was the host had directed the ritual and control the way of doing the ritual “Jakapat MaHaPhutTaPiSet” to folly as the way of the old days. After that there are no ways to find to do this ritual anymore.

A point that was interested in doing the ritual “Jakapat MaHaPhutTaPiSet” in each time in order to add the power of the amulets that is:-

There will be the dipping the water from the Head of Sacred Buddha two sources which is the holy water from Head of Luang Phor Thong Suk, from Wat Toom ( the royal temple) Phranakorn Sriayutthaya province and from Head of Une Mueng abbot which was sacred and located at Wat Num hoo, Amphur Pai, Mae Hong Son province.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At first, it is vital to explain the meaning of Holy Water in Thai Call “NumMon Saksit”. The holy water is water that passes the ritual. The water that make holy for washing, eating or sprinkle. As ordinary, it’ll be finished by sprinkle in many rituals.

Besides, it was popular to make a holy water for washing, drinking or sprinkle at head, in the house and around the shop for example. By respecting that it was a graced holy water which brought good luck and also destroying the bad luck, dangerous and bad things, too.

Wat Toom, the 3rd class temple is an ancient temple which is built before erecting Krung Sriayutthaya as a capital and used to be an isolated temple before. When Myanmar destroyed Ayutthaya at B.E. 2310. Until to Ratana Kosih in King Phra Phutta Yod Fah has been reconstructed again.

To King Julla Chom Klao ranked it to be the 3rd class of temple. King Rama has gone to the presentation of robes many times.

This temple is also a royal temple which is significantly important from that era (King Rama V) respectively. Many important things in this temple, especially the object of worthy of worship is the largest image of the Buddha in Udosotha which is Buddha statue, to gild, Manvichai period. And Buddha made of old Somrit in the suit of Manvichai period which is called “Lung Phor Suk Sumrit” or “Lung Phor Thong Suk”.

This Buddha has a special thing which is different from the others in all around Thailand. That is at on the top of his Head (topknot) "can be opened and inside the head is a small pond, about deep from Buddha’s head to the Buddha’s elbow. And there is water flowing out all the times as a sweat. It is light and cool water that can eat. Even though, you dip it until it’s dry, there still the water flowing from that area. Many people respect a lot because it can cure the diseases.

Besides, in the temple there is a pond near the temple. It has been said that the water in this pond has brought to use in Phichai Songkram Ritnal, such as to clean a sword all the times.

When King Rama V had gone in the final time at B.E.2451 for cleaning the old sword ceremony “Khan Rat Cha Satra”, there were many people went to see and celebrate the King.

From these reasons, make them respect in “Lung Phor Suk” as holy Buddha statue full of miracle that spread all around Ayutthaya and upcountry. Everyday, many people go to this temple. They pray to get luck and take the holy water to home.

In Summary, you can use “NumMon Saksit” for serveral ways.

1. If you are ill, boil it and drink.

2. If you want to have good business, sprinkle around shop, on goods or over table at work.

3. If you go to negoitiation, sprinkle at head.
            4. If you want to get lucky, wash/bath it.
            5. If you want protection, dip your gun/sword.

- Follow by praying katha.
