Yant in Pali language means a thing that human need to worship for happiness and progress but in Thai language Yant means mystical letters.

For distinctive pattern of Yant, the guru monk will draw a picture of respect place such as Chedi(pagoda), draw a picture of animal or Hanuman, write mystical letters into cells. Therefore, there are many patterns of Yant nowadays.

           Refer to Thai belief, these letters out of cells means “umbilical cord of Lord Buddha” and the letters in cells means “bone of Yant”.

           Yant is a necessary visha that always is with Thai occult. Yant appear in many magic books of almost countries. In Europe and Middle East, there is a Yant with Arabic number(numbers represent power of stars).

           There are no record or evidence identifying when or what era Yant was originated. However, some people mention that Yant was originated in In dia 305 Years before Christian era. At that time, Buddhism and Bramanism are integrated that cause the Buddha Tan Tra doctrine was born. The Buddha Tan Tra doctrine believed in the existence of magic and mystical letters(Yant). Afterwards, the belief of magic and Yant was widespread to South East Asia. There is an assurance evidence that Yant is one of Thai art for long time more than a thousand years. Therefore, Yant has been developed to many styles such as Yant on cloth, shirt, skin and on other amulets.

           Writing Yant uses Khmer character. Short katha is written as abbreviation because full katha is too long to write all words.

            The caution for drawing yant line is that draw thoroughly. If drawing yant ,stop and redraw, yant can not use and is not powerful. At the same time monks/layman who write yant must chant and pray katha during draw Yant. Thus, he mush has highly concentration while writing Yant.

            The next step after finish writing yant is incantation. Incantation helps to add power of Yant. There are many types of katha relate t opurpose to useYant such as invulnerable katha. Most katha are of  Buddism that is while magic.

       The Yant has a history for long time. It’s a cause of  many patterns of Yant. A type of Yant can be divided in following shape of Yant:

-   Circle Yant means face of Lord Buddha.

-   Square Yant means 4 elements( earth, fire, wind and water)
