Myth about Naga
Naga is also intertwined with the history of Buddha, as seen in various legends where they play crucial roles in protecting and assisting the enlightened one. The story of Phaya Moot-cha-lin, the great Naga who provides shelter to Buddha under the Indian Oaktree, exemplifies the deep connection between Naga and Buddhism.

Look Om, Longtime Thai Amulet with Various Powers!

Look Om,
Longtime Thai Amulet with Various Powers!

You, as an amulet collector might be familiar with the small and round talisman called “Look Om”. Yes, it is a well-known Thai amulet that never gets old-fashioned.

“Look Om” is an amulet made in small and round. In the past, guru monks made it for people to protect themselves in the war. Some held it in their mouths to be invulnerable to dangers and some put under their tongues to successfully convince people deserving its name “Look” as “a small ball” and “Om” as “holding in the mouth”.

However, that doesn’t mean only holding in the mouth because the owner can wear this amulet on his neck or carry it along.

Look Om can be made of holy powder, herbs, betel nut, wax and metal for example.  Its power depends on the purpose of the maker such as for protection, for charm and for wealth.

Several deceased guru monks had made it and became the legend for example:

(superb protection-invulnerability)

Look Om by LP Ding (Wat Bang Wua, Chachoengsao Province)

(superb protection-invulnerability)

Look Om by LP Niam (Wat Noi, Suphanburi Province)

(includes many favors:  protection, charm, wealth, etc.)

Look Om Phong Prai Guman by LP Tim (Wat LaHanLaai, Rayong Province)

**Key Words: Look Om, holy ball, magical ball
