Theme of This Collection <<
Phra Phuttha Ming Mueang at Wat Suwannawas (su-wan-na-was), commonly known as "Luang Phor Phra Yuen" (standing Buddha), is the highly sacred and respected Buddha image for Buddhists and Maha Sarakham people.
The mudra (a symbolic or ritual gesture in Hinduism and Buddhism) of this Buddha image is Srong Nam (bathing). The laterite Buddha image has the height at 4 m. and width at 1 m., built in Khmer period before Sukhothai period. This Buddha image’s face looks towards the South, built and donated by Tao Lin Tong, the ruler of Khantha Wichaicity in Thai minor era 147(1328), to return gratitude to his father (Tao Lin Jong). This antique’s history is written on Bai Sema (stone boundary marker) stating that this Buddha image was registered to be national historical antique in 1935.
